Prof. Vijayalakshmi Kakulapati received Ph. D in Computer Science & Engineering in the area of Information Retrieval from JNTU Hyderabad, PDF in CSE from Srinivasa University. She is working as a Professor in the Department of Information Technology, Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, and has around 27+ years of industry and teaching experience. She is a member of various professional bodies like IEEE, ACM, CSTA, LMISTE, LMCSI, IACSIT, FIETE, and a few more. She serves as an Editorial Board member to various International journals such as PLOS one and National journals. Apart from these, she continuously serves National & International Conferences as a program committee member and various International Journals review members, including IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems Implementation Science, IAJIT, Journal of Big Data and IJCNS. Track manager for ICTIS, ICCII, ICDECT, and many more conferences. She is having more than 250+ publications in National, International journals and conferences. She authored ten books. She have 10 granted patents and 6 published patents. She took an active role in two National Conferences and four International Conferences as Session chair. She received Research awards from many organizations. she organized various Workshops include AICTE sponsored and DST sponsored workshops. She received JNTUH TEQUIP-III CRC funding project and successfully completed.

Her area of research includes theoretical and practical information retrieval problems and machine learning applied to large-scale textual applications. Her research has focused on retrieval models, query/document representations, term weighting, term proximity models, and learning to rank (machine-learned ranking functions). She is interested in expanding the breadth and depth of research into other related areas or fields of study. She also has passionate about seeing research problems applied to real-world issues, especially those dealing with large, complex data sets. Along these lines, she works with evaluating and designing novel search algorithms for web search and summarization. Currently, she is working with big data analytics, health informatics, Data science, machine learning, AI, AI and DL, information Retrieval systems, NLP and the Internet of Things.
