Dr. Mojgan Mirzaei Hotkani holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering – Communication Systems from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. She is
an expert in underwater acoustics and localization. During a research visit
with Dalhousie University’s UWSTREAM group, she made significant contributions to underwater acoustics projects. From May 2021 to September
2024, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Dalhousie University and JASCO
Applied Science Ltd, contributing extensively to soundscape classification
and detection research.
At Dalhousie, Dr. Mirzaei Hotkani focused on the classification of essential
ocean variables (EOVs) and their implementation on Application-Specific
Integrated Circuits (ASICs). Her technical expertise spans VHDL programming, MATLAB, Python, C, R, Assembly, and COMSOL, as well as significant experience with the Texas Instruments Real-Time Operating System
(TI-RTOS), which she used to develop real-time underwater applications
for embedded systems.
In September 2024, Dr. Mirzaei Hotkani began her full-time role at JASCO
Applied Science Ltd as an Embedded Algorithm Developer. Her current
projects include designing and implementing motor control systems using TI
C2000 microcontrollers, for developing a real-time winch controller utilizing
the SpinTAC algorithm. Her eight years of teaching and supervision experience further enhance her contributions to academic and research pursuits.
