Prof. Jacqueline Żammit is Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Malta, specialising in Computer-Assisted Language Learning, Second Language Acquisition, and the pedagogy of Maltese as a foreign and second language. Her research encompasses applied linguistics, second language acquisition, computer-assisted language learning, multilingualism, intercultural competence, artificial intelligence, and immersive technologies for language learning. She has published extensively in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact first-quartile (Q1) journals, as well as in academic monographs, edited volumes, and book chapters. She is regularly invited to deliver keynote addresses and present her research at international conferences. Prof. Żammit serves as an Associate (Handling) Editor of “Humanities & Social Sciences Communications” (Springer Nature) and acts as a reviewer for numerous international journals. She has been invited to deliver guest lectures and seminars at the Universities of Edinburgh, Antwerp, Innsbruck, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Cork, Uppsala, and other international institutions, reflecting the international recognition of her expertise in applied linguistics, computer-assisted language learning, multilingualism, interculturalism, multiculturalism and language education. She has also played a pioneering role in introducing Maltese as a foreign language at international universities. Furthermore, Prof. Żammit supervises postgraduate theses, coordinates the Maltese pedagogy programme, contributes to national and international projects developing innovative digital language-learning resources and pedagogical materials, and is the author of a graded novel series for learners of Maltese. Before joining academia, she accumulated more than fifteen years of teaching experience across primary, secondary, and tertiary education.
